FEDERAL SERVICE FOR MILITARY TECHNOLOGICAL COOPERATION PREPARED A BILL THAT SHOULD SIMPLIFY PROCEDURES OF MAINTENANCE OF THE MILITARY HARDWARE SOLD ABROAD

The Federal Service for Military Technological Cooperation (FSMTC) prepared a bill that should simplify the procedures of coordination during maintenance of the models of military hardwire already supplied to foreign customers. The government plans to submit the bill to the parliament for debating after formation of the new convocation of the Duma. Quicker reaction to queries of foreign partners will contribute to strengthening of positions of Russia on the global armament market.

The federal service proposes definition of a new term of “service maintenance of armament and military hardware” in the law “On military technological cooperation of Russia with foreign countries.”

The reason is that so far such work does not formally belong to military products and requires long approval procedures. According to the current federal law, to military products belong only separate kinds of work that may be done in the framework of service maintenance: repair, examination, prolongation of service life of armament and military hardware. Representatives of FSMTC say that implementation of a unified notion of “service maintenance of armament and military hardware” into the law will allow a quicker reaction to queries of foreign partners and will improve understanding of tasks by Russian producers during provision of such services.

Representatives of FSMTC explain:

– The proposed amendments will allow increasing of speed and quality of service maintenance of armament and military hardware including technical and logistic support of military products operated abroad, which will in turn contribute to promotion of weapons made in Russia on foreign markets.
