Euronews reprimanded a journalist

The management of the Euronews TV channel has reprimanded a journalist for referring to the link of a non-existent account of RF Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Vice-President of the Supervisory Board of the broadcaster Pyotr Fedorov told about it in his Tuesday interview with the “Moscow Speaking” radio station.
Just for you to remember that on May 18 the channel’s website published a text about the adoption by the Council of Veneto region of Italy a resolution calling to recognize the actual status of the Crimea and to cancel sanctions against Russia. A screenshot of the alleged account of Minister Lavrov in Twitter was attached to the article.
Euronews admitted that the publication of the English-language website of the TV channel of the text with reference to a non-existent Twitter account of RF Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was a specific manifestation of lack of professionalism of the journalists. However, RIA Novosti quoted the Vice-President of the Supervisory Board of the TV Company as saying that it was done unconsciously. Meanwhile, Fedorov has noticed: he has a mixed feeling about the publication: “Anyway, though in a fake, it referred to what actually happened in the local Assembly of Veneto, because generally that information was not widely presented in the European media. That is, at least the readers of the Euronews English website learned about it. With regard to the fact that Lavrov has never made such a statement and that he has no Twitter account, it is an obvious professional error of the English service of Euronews”.
The reaction of the Russian foreign Ministry was quite predictable. Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova drew attention to the fact that Lavrov did not have a Twitter account, and that the website screenshot published by Euronews was “fake” and misinformation
