The federal forces in Chechnya have captured Gudermes, and currently the command is regrouping the troops for a further advance on Grozny. According to the press center of the Eastern group, the Air Force is tracking the movements of transport of Chechen guerrillas in the direction of Georgia. Federal aviation attacks the Argun Gorge, used by Chechens for escaping to Georgia. Meanwhile the Georgian authorities are concerned by the operations of the Russian special services. According to the reports from Tbilisi, the Alpha detachment of the special services arrived at the air-base in Visani. The majority of the servicemen disappeared after their arrival. Later Tbilisi stated that an unusual object found not far from the Baku-Subsy oil pipeline may be connected with the strange visit of Alpha. Local authorities think someone is trying to check the vigilance of the Georgian special services.

THE SECURITY ZONE HAS BEEN EXTENDED

The federal forces in Chechnya have extended the security zone. Several more settlements occupied by Chechen guerrillas have been attacked by the Air Force: Urus-Martan, Roshni-Chu, Samashki, and Gekhi.

GUDERMES IS A ZONE OF PEACE AND CONCORD

Gennady Troshev, Commander-in-Chief of the eastern zone of the federal forces, stated on November 13 that Gudermes and the region has been declared a zone of peace and concord. The troops finished clearing the town of Chechen guerrillas. Police and the Internal Force checked four sectors of Gudermes. After that a meeting was organized in the central square of Gudermes.
