Kommersant, May 16, 2002, p. 4
Departure of a special expedition to the site of the Kursk’s shipwreck has been postponed for a day because of bad weather. This report has been circulated by the staff of the Northern Fleet. The wind speed in the Barents Sea will soon reach 15 meters per second, roughness is force three. Officers say that such weather conditions may prevent ships from anchoring and using underwater vehicles. The weather will improve on May 16. The staff of the fleet noted that the ships are ready to put to sea. The staff noted that the operation to raise fragments of the first compartment of the Kursk submarine, which is to be conducted on May 20, will not be postponed.
