Eduard Kokoyev, president of the self-declared Republic of South Ossetia, says that Mr. Tskhinvali is contemplating on refusing to participate in the joint commission for the Georgian-Ossetian conflict resolution.
Kokoyev says that this demarche is supposed to draw attention to “some steps being taking by the president of Georgia to aggravate the tension”.

Salaries of servicemen will be increased in two phases. Salaries are to be upped for posts as of July 1, 2002, and for ranks as of January 1, 2003.
