Independent Television, Segodnya, April 22, 2000, 19:00
The Yabloko movement held a meeting of its central council. Tomorrow the session will continue. The council will have to determine the strategy of the movement under the new political circumstances. The main work has already been done: Yabloko has decided to unite its efforts with the Union of Right Forces and other liberal organizations, and to create a joint coordinating council which will plan policy at “democratic meetings”.
Another decisive move by Yabloko is its decision to support Igor Artemyev in the gubernatorial elections in St. Petersburg.
Grigory Yavlinsky said that he does not see anything of substance behind all the economic programs discussed by the government. It is planned to hold a scheduled meeting of Yabloko in June, at which this movement will be converted into a party. The central council of Yabloko will discuss this issue tomorrow.
