Operation in the Barents Sea is a priority, Deputy Premier Ilya Klebanov says adding that the technical project is ready. The operation will be conducted by the Central Design Bureau Rubin and a consortium of a Norwegian and two Dutch companies. The submarine will be cut into two pieces on the seabed.
The magazine EOS refers to some foreign specialists as suggesting that the Kursk was killed by a torpedo explosion in Compartment One. The second explosion 135 seconds later was caused by fire in the torpedo compartment. Russian specialists are not available for comments.
