A NEW SUVOROV SCHOOL OPENS IN TULA ON SEPTEMBER 1

The Tula Suvorov military school was established during the years of the Great Patriotic War. In 16 years, it brought up more than 900 boys. In summer of 1960, it was disbanded. A boarding school was established on the basis of the Tula Suvorov military school. It existed until August of 2001. In April of 2015, a resolution was adopted on construction of a new Suvorov military school to continue the best traditions of its predecessors was adopted according to initiative of Governor of Tula Region Alexei Dyumin with support of President Vladimir Putin. The interlocutor of Krasnaya Zvezda is director of the Tula Suvorov military school and colonel of the reserve Dmitry Sakseev.

Question: Your latest military post is deputy commander of the 98th guard airborne division in Ivanovo. During the service you participated in the Chechen campaign and in landing in the Arctic. I would presume that you started managing the Suvorov school as fearlessly as you had fought.

Dmitry Sakseev: The military experience definitely helps me. Something is prompted by my own education received in the Moscow Suvorov military school. But top-ranking officials of the Defense Ministry, command of the Airborne Forces and the 106th airborne division helps to a bigger extent.

I would like to specially emphasize assistance of the authorities of Tula Region that have quickly settled the matters of resource supply and problems with operating organizations. Directors of the Moscow, Ulyanovsk and Tver Suvorov schools and girl boarding school of the Defense Ministry had an active part in establishment of the school. They provided methodical aid to us. In September, we expect representatives of the boarding schools for organization of open lessons.

Question: Where were the guys selected if the school was not built yet?

Dmitry Sakseev: Documents were accepted in the Moscow Suvorov military school. Announcement of enlistment was published at its website and at the portal of the Ministry of Education of Tula Region but applications came from the whole country. In the first week alone, we had more than 300 candidates. In July, commission from the Ulyanovsk Suvorov school gave examinations on the basis of one of gymnasiums of Tula. Overall, 240 people were enlisted for studying in the fifth, sixth and seventh grades. The contest amounted to six people per one place. Overall, after construction of the second part of the school, 560 people will study there including children of servicemen, orphans and children from incomplete families. Seventy percent of the children live in Tula Region.

Question: How did you recruit lecturers?

Dmitry Sakseev: CV came to us from the whole country, even from higher school lecturers but commission of the Main Personnel Directorate of the Defense Ministry choose the best: all lecturers have the highest pedagogical category, tutors are former servicemen who have experience of work in the Suvorov schools, the second tutors are women and, as a rule, sportswomen. I need to say that nobody of them have asked how much they will earn, first of all, all candidates wish to realize their capabilities.

Question: How, where and what will pupils of the Suvorov school be taught?

Dmitry Sakseev: Studying in the Suvorov military school is based on a classic school program with deepened studying of subjects and emphasis on practical classes. By the relevant order the Defense Ministry attached the Tula Suvorov military school to the Airborne Forces. This will improve the military sport training of the pupils.

Equipment for unique laboratory research was installed into classrooms for physics, chemistry and biology. Lingaphone systems for interactive communication of pupils with the lecturer or native speakers via the Internet were installed for learning of foreign languages. Technological classes are equipped with carpenter’s benches and computers at which it is possible to calculate and to see not only stools but also rocket engines in 3D format. In big robotics classrooms it is possible to fulfill various designer tasks up to creation of a model of space station. The school will also have works for aviation and ship modeling. Pupils of the Suvorov school will have an electronic laser shooting range, a unique driving classroom with a real automobile inside, a dancing hall and a room for an orchestra club. In the Tula Suvorov military school special attention will be paid to studying of basics of military journalism. A multifunctional television studio with professional equipment will be handed over to pupils of the Suvorov school “on the turnkey basis” with professional equipment for shooting, recording, editing and voice recording. Pupils will be able to create videos and films, television and radio programs independently.

A covered sport center, an obstacle path, sites for basketball and volleyball, big tennis and shuttlecock, mini football and handball, table tennis, weight machines and gymnastics and a stadium with a football field and a stand for 620 seats will be built in 2017. One more sleeping building for 240 people and a covered parking lot will be built too.
