DMITRY MEDVEDEV WILL MEET WITH HIS PERSONNEL POOL NEXT WEEK

The so called presidential pool is formed. Time to find jobs for the people who made the list.

Sources in the presidential administration said President Dmitry Medvedev intended to meet with his personnel pool next week. Several first dozens from the Top 100 would be granted an audience. The whole list to be published yet comprises 1,000 names. Insiders meanwhile claim that these 1,000 persons actually constitute the federal reserve, while the presidential pool as such numbers only about 100 candidates for civil service.

When the list was initially compiled, it ended up with lots of officials of the presidential administration and government on it. Practically all officials of the former and some of the latter were removed from the list then. A source in the Duma said two lawmakers, one of them Konstantin Kosachev, were on the list all the same. Another source said the list included some prominent businessmen like Pyotr Aven.

A source close to the Kremlin assumed that some candidates from the presidential pool might become governors before long. In fact, Presidential Administration Director Sergei Naryshkin met with Pskov and Orel governors Mikhail Kuznetsov and Yegor Stroyev last week because, the source explained, both were prime candidates for retirement. Another spokesman for the Kremlin, however, said that people from the presidential pool could actually count on promotion to positions below gubernatorial.

“People from the so called Presidential 100 may become federal ministers, judges, Auditing Commission auditors, Central Electoral Commission members, and heads of state corporations,” a source in the presidential administration said.
