ANOTHER SCANDAL IN THE CAUCASUS
NTV, Segodnya, June 20, 1999, 22:00
Four MiG-29 fighters of the Russian Air Force spent 37 minutes in the air space of Georgia. Two minutes before entering the air space of Georgia, the pilots of the MiG’s were asked to change their course. But they did not react to the demand. An attempt by the Georgian leadership to get in touch with the Headquarters of Russian Air Force was unsuccessful.
The Georgian Defense Ministry considers this incident to be a rude violation of the air space of an independent country.
