SUMMARY:

Foreign companies are unlikely to be involved in the operation in the Barents Sea. This is the decision of the Russian government made at the Russian-German forum. The governmental commission is contemplating the possibility of financing the project independently. It does not mean, however, that Russia will refuse foreign assistance.

When all technical questions have been negotiated, the governmental commission will set the date of the operation. It will probably begin in late August or early September.

Chairman of the Murmansk regional legislature Pavel Sazhinov says the government guarantees finances for the operation.
