SUMMARY:

Scientists of the Royal Technical Institute, Stockholm, are prepared to handle the radioactive dump on the seabed in the Barents Sea, said dump containing old nuclear reactors sunken in the Soviet period. To accomplish that, the Swedes plan to turn the reactors into chunks of ice. Jan Eric Novatski, an expert in cryo techniques says the same method may be applied to the Kursk as well.

The Royal Technical Institute sent its proposals to the Russian Duma and Navy command.

Not so long ago the Norwegian Foreign Ministry expressed grave doubts in possibility of the Russian-Dutch project of lifting the Kursk from the seabed.
